An exciting match

Just for Fun

This weekend will be filled with thrilling sports matches, including the Women’s Wimbledon Final on Saturday, the Men’s Wimbledon Final on Sunday, the World Cup Third-Place Match on Saturday, and of course the World Cup Final on Sunday.

Personally, I’m most excited about the World Cup Final between Croatia and France. It’s always fun to see an underdog take on a heavy favorite, especially in an event like the World Cup where entire nations’ hopes and dreams are on the line.

One thing I’m not excited about, however, is what has become an all-too-familiar sight in soccer matches: a world-class soccer player writhing on the ground in agony after being tripped, bumped, or (in some cases) looked at the wrong way by the other team. Diving and flopping have become rampant in soccer and in other sports as players “seek a competitive edge” (also known as “cheat”) by selling a foul to the referee—first by dramatically throwing their arms in the air, then helplessly falling to the ground, then grasping at a random appendage while contorting their face in anguish. This typically goes on until the ref blows the whistle, at which point the player will inevitably stand up and continue playing as if they’ve never felt better.

For me, nothing spoils an exciting match more than flopping and diving. In a match full of data—scores, possession times, interactions, fouls, cards, etc.—flopping and diving are simply bad data that can be misinterpreted by the referee to influence the match.

At Verato, we’re all too familiar with bad data being misinterpreted to influence a match. When it comes to patient matching, the biggest barrier to accurately linking all of a patient’s records across a healthcare enterprise is low quality demographic data. Old addresses, maiden names, mistyped birthdates, and missing data can all prevent a patient’s records from being linked by the enterprise’s EHR or enterprise master patient index (EMPI) technology.

Luckily, Verato’s Referential Matching technology can match and link patient records despite out-of-date, incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent patient demographic data.

Organizations can harness the power of Verato’s Referential Matching technology by plugging Verato Auto-Steward™ into their EHR or EMPI to automatically find and resolve its duplicate records—without disrupting existing processes or IT systems. Verato Auto-Steward can even automatically resolve the “potential duplicate records” the EHR or EMPI has flagged for manual resolution.

Or, organizations can deploy the Verato Universal™ MPI, a HITRUST-certified SaaS solution that uses Referential Matching technology to match and link your patient data across your enterprise with the highest accuracy rates in the industry. Simply put, the Verato Universal MPI is the most accurate, most secure, easiest to implement, and most cost effective EMPI solution on the market—and you can deploy it in as little as six weeks.

I hope you’ll join me in rooting for an exciting match on Sunday in the World Cup Final—one that isn’t influenced by bad data.
