Calling Participants for RGV HIE’s Inaugural Healthcare Hackathon
I love that we work with innovators – people who are committed to making healthcare work well for patients. One of these innovators is Rio Grande Valley Health Information Exchange (RGV HIE) and, this November, they are hosting a Hackathon to explore use cases for the FHIR standard.
November 8-10, RGV HIE is hosting a Healthcare Hackathon.
This weekend long event challenges healthcare subject matter experts (from everywhere but especially those nearby the Rio Grande Valley) to use the HIE’s FHIR-enabled platform to develop mobile and web healthcare applications, patient engagement solutions, and population health analytics to support the community. During this first of its kind hackathon, change agents and problem solvers will come together to create meaningful solutions for the RGV community and the health sector at large. If you are not familiar with FHIR or have been wanting the opportunity to play with this emerging healthcare standard, this is an excellent (and rare) opportunity.
RGV HIE is uniquely offering these problem solvers access to their trusted patient dataset.
With patient information from across 32 healthcare patient data sources in South Texas, RGV HIE’s hackathon is a useful opportunity to get hands on experience. RGV HIE relies on a variety of technologies including Verato to connect and curate this patient data so that it’s accurate, accessible, and ready for action.
In addition to hands-on development experience, attendees will meet like-minded change agents in healthcare and will hear from industry experts on topics that are near and dear to the South Texas community. Topics include: EMS/disaster planning, public health, population health, medication adherence, and patient access and engagement.
Who is invited? Technical, programming, and computer science experts from neighboring towns and nearby cities are invited to sign-up and participate in the event. If you have a penchant for healthcare or work for a healthcare organization, even better.
Where will the event be? The event will take place at the UTRGV Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization in Welasco, TX, November 8 – 10, 2019.
Your call to action: Learn more here about how you can start this FHIR, register to participate and tell your developer friends and colleagues too. Sign-up now!
What’s in it for you? In addition to the opportunity to test your development skills on the hottest standard in healthcare, the winner for the weekend takes home a prize of $1000.
